About What are nice areas around Colorado Springs/Peterson Air Force Base

What are nice areas around Colorado Springs/Peterson Air Force Base?
My husband and I will be moving to Colorado Springs in March/April. My husband will be working at Peterson Air Force Base, so we're looking at about a 10-15 mile radius from that location. What are the nice areas/neighborhoods? Low crime rate, little to no poverty is what I'm looking for. Zip codes and town names would be greatly appreciated! I'm not looking for good schools or anything, it's just my husband, dog and me. Thank you so much. Also, what are areas/neighborhoods near Peterson AFB to avoid completely?

First, congrats to moving one of the most beautiful cities in U.S. Colorado Springs was nominated as #1 city with mid-size city about 3 years ago... If he's working at Peterson, the 1st choice would be Wolf Ranch. It is located to next to the base, and I've heard lots of military family is finding home there.. It's pretty new town, so very clean and nice house and of course low crime area. Especially family with no kids prefer mid size house that could range from 200k. Above that area, there is still developing area called Cordera where a brand new house of famous builder such as Keller and Classic homes are being located. If you want a bit settled and bigger house (not always necessary but they do have choices), then defiitely go up to Pine Creek area. The zipcode is 80920. But all of above areas are within Academy School District 20, which has great school system in the town.

About Which part of Colorado Springs should I live in

Which part of Colorado Springs should I live in?
I am moving to the Springs in 3 weeks. I will be renting an apartment. Can anyone tell me the part(s) of town to avoid when seeking an apartment? For example, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the city where I work now, the Eastside is pretty nasty and rundown and that's where crime is high.

sorry, i don't know the area.. :) wishing you happiness in your new place, though!

Avoid complexes in east-central part of town...around Pikes Peak and Murray and Fountain and Chelton...2 areas with lots of apartment complexes, but lots of crime. The very northern part of town is very nice, but expensive. East side of town, nice, some parts expensive. South of town, in suburbs of Security and Widefield, rents are less, areas average to nice. You will LOVE Colorado Springs. Hope things work out well for you.
